OPEN ACCESS/REAP Selects Inaugural Fellows for Open Access Program

National organization offers community development finance education, mentorship, and paid internships for diverse, under-represented professionals

On the 26th anniversary of the day of service that celebrates Martin Luther King, Jr’s life and legacy, OPEN ACCESS/REAP (Open Access/Real Estate Associate) announced the selection of 23 highly qualified professionals for a pilot Open Access Fellowship Program in Community Development Finance that runs through Friday, April 16, 2021.

In the wake of our national health, leadership, and access to wealth crises, Open Access seeks to address all three by offering paid virtual internships, access to online training and zoom networking sessions for talented professionals looking for opportunity and access. Remembering the words of Dr. King, “the ultimate measure of a [man] is not where [he] stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where [he] stands at times of challenge and controversy,” Open Access sponsors seek to address the gross underrepresentation of Black and Latinx professionals who improve health, education and wealth outcomes in low income communities across America.

The virtual program is a collaboration between REAP, the nation’s leading and most successful initiative connecting professionals of color to commercial real estate (CRE) for over two decades, and Open Access, a newly organized group of executive-level professionals in the community development finance industry.

In partnership with paid internship sponsors, other financial sponsors include JPM Chase, US Bank, Citi, Novogradac, Advantage Capital, PNC Financial Services Group, NTCIC, and Dudley Ventures.

Fellows will benefit from on-demand courses provided by Novogradac accounting firm and internships with a number of leading industry organizations, as well as live webinars and virtual Happy Hour networking sessions featuring guest speakers and sponsors.
