Standing Against Asian American and Pacific Islander Violence & Racism

March 22, 2021 News & Updates
March 22,2021

We stand in solidarity with our Asian-American and Pacific Islander community members who are experiencing a continuous wave of increasingly aggressive and violent attacks.

We are deeply saddened by the targeted violence incited against the eight women and men in Atlanta, Georgia who recently lost their lives to a horrific act of transgression. We express our support and solidarity with all members of Asian, Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities. We acknowledge the families who are suffering. This hits close to home for all of us.

Unfortunately, this is not new. Since March of last year, the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community has experienced a heightened rate of race and gender-based xenophobia, including hate crimes, harassment and discrimination. This serves as another painful reminder that we cannot continue to sit idle. We cannot tolerate deep-seated structural racism.

At New Jersey Community Capital, one of our core values is to build a more just and equitable society by advocating for the needs of individuals, families and communities we serve every day. We invest in the people and places that make our homes unique and vibrant. As supporters, partners and colleagues, we ask that you stand with us and the AAPI community during moments like these. We remain hopeful that we can continue to disrupt prejudice and cultivate a culture of inclusion to strengthen our most vulnerable populations.
