June 29, 2021 – Wayne Meyer will step down from the organization on June 30 after serving 12 years as President.
From his first days serving as a Board Member in 2008 to now, Wayne has been an invaluable asset to our organization. During his tenure, he has created a culture of partnership and collaboration, strategically positioning the organization to provide strong pathways to opportunity for the vibrant people and communities we serve. His dedication is a reminder that with vision and purpose, we can lead–boldly–to create healthy places, healthy homes and vibrant neighborhoods that thrive. We have benefitted greatly from his highly respected leadership and are strategically positioned to continue to be New Jersey’s leading CDFI, leveraging our knowledge and impact for good.
NJCC has experienced unparalleled growth that can only be attributed to the partners, supporters, investors and staff members who have supported Wayne’s vision for innovative, holistic, comprehensive and resident-driven initiatives and collaborations that effect fair and equitable community development and neighborhood stabilization. Under his leadership, our total assets under management have increased from $132 million to $673 million and our loan portfolio has grown from $35 million to $106 million. We’ve also grown from a small team of 12 to our current team of over 80 employees.
As community developers, we have deepened our commitment to building better pathways to racial equity by improving the organizational programs, practices and policies that shape the vibrant communities we serve. Whether directing much-needed capital to Black and minority-owned small businesses through a first-of-its-kind collaboration between a CDFI and a New Jersey-based Chamber of Commerce or championing a Racial Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging strategic framework for the organization, NJCC has built a culture of learning, understanding and leadership.
“Those who know Wayne know that his leadership ability is unmatched,” says Alle Ries, Chair of the NJCC Board. “His vision, tenacity and deep understanding of community development has been an essential part of NJCC’s growth. It has been a distinct privilege working alongside him, and we look forward to his next chapter.”
NJCC remains committed to catalyzing opportunities across the many communities we serve. While the Board completes the critical search for the next leader who exhibits a passion for NJCC’s mission, Jacki Robinson, our CFO, will serve as Interim President. In the meantime, we look forward to continuing our work with all of you, our NJCC Community.
Finally, please join us in thanking Wayne for his dedication and wishing him continued success.
