Bernel Hall, CEO of New Jersey Community Capital (NJCC), has been appointed to the Interdisciplinary Advisory Task Force by Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill. Sherrill announced and named 433 members to the task force described as a broad coalition of leaders from across New Jersey — labor, business, veterans, healthcare, education, the environment, and more — assembled to give the Sherrill a real-world perspective as they shape policy. The group will participate in listening sessions and briefings, ensuring that every major initiative is informed by voices from every part of the state and grounded in how these issues affect communities on the ground, the transition office explained.
As NJCC’s President and CEO, Hall leads the largest Community Development Financial Institution in New Jersey with more than $700 million in assets under management. Bernel also leads Community Asset Preservation Corporation (CAPC), a subsidiary of NJCC, and the largest affordable housing development company in New Jersey. Hall said, “it’s a privilege to serve the State of New Jersey and the incoming administration. Such broad collaboration among these critical sectors is vital to addressing the opportunities and challenges before us.”
The task force is one of three transition components that include ten specific action teams exploring policy on key economic and social areas, and public engagement through a survey. Governor-elect Sherril, who takes office on January 20, 2026, previously represented New Jersey’s 11th District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
