Elijah Dixon joined New Jersey Community Capital as a Development Specialist in May 2018. In this role, he is primarily responsible for overseeing and coordinating major organizational initiatives and proposals as a key team member of the External Affairs department.
Prior to joining NJCC, Elijah served as Community Coordinator at Isles Inc., a long time NJCC partner and one of New Jersey’s leading community development corporations based in Trenton. As a member of the Isles’ Community Development team, he was responsible for planning and coordinating strategic community engagement activities. Elijah contributed to the successful implementation of three neighborhood redevelopment plans, including the East Trenton neighborhood where he once resided.
Elijah founded a producer cooperative in Trenton’s burgeoning Creative District. He planned and implemented a multi-phase capital campaign, which led to the acquisition and redevelopment of a mixed use, multi-unit building for co-op members to live and work in. Now known as the Orchid House, the commercial portion of the building functions as a makerspace, social hub and cafe. He is an active community leader and serves as a member of the Henry J. Austin Health Center Board of Directors.
