Yuqing joined New Jersey Community Capital (NJCC) in May 2023 as the Corporate Counsel (Transactional) on the Legal & Compliance Team. Yuqing is responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating NJCC’s contracts and agreements for all of its transactions, projects, investments, grants, and third-party services, as well as advising on all legal-related matters and needs.
Prior to joining NJCC, Yuqing was an associate and head of the tax department at Convergent Law LLC (formerly Nee Plata Law LLC), where she focused her practice primarily in corporate and transactional work with a particular emphasis on federal and state tax credit financing and tax-exempt bond financing. She has worked on an array of complex multimillion dollar financings and transactions leveraging federal, state and local tax incentives, including New Markets Tax Credits, Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Opportunity Zones (OZ), NJ HUB tax credits and NJ ERG tax credits. She has also provided tax and structuring advice to corporations, partnerships, developers, non-profits, and government entities in various fields, including commercial lending and banking, public finance, tax exemptions, governmental law, commercial leasing, housing, land use and public private partnerships.
Yuqing has been active in the legal community for several years. She is an active member to several legal professional organizations including the National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL) and is currently working with other Tax Law Committee members on completing the Tax Diligence Best Practices, a tax due diligence tool for all NABL members.
Yuqing earned her Bachelor of Laws from Minzu University of China and her Juris Doctor from the University at Buffalo School of Law, where she was the Senior Editor for the Buffalo Human Rights Law Review and the Buddhism and Law Journal. Yuqing is admitted to practice in the States of New Jersey and New York and is fluent in Mandarin.
